“One of Cirque du Soleil’s world-famous crews will soon be coming to Rockford as they perform “Corteo” at BMO Harris Bank Center April 5-8.
Corteo made its premier in Montreal in April 2005. Since then the production has visited more than 60 cities in 19 different countries.
“It was the first Cirque du Soleil show that I worked on,” said Artistic Director Mark Shaub. “It’s beautiful and explores many ideas and concepts.”
The word “Corteo” means cortege, which is a type of festive procession, in Italian. The storyline surrounds a clown, Mauro, who pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival-like setting.”
