Launching New Concepts

From Ground Breaking to Grand Opening…from Opening Night to One-Night-Only

Whether it’s a $114 million new art center or a seven-member production on a neighborhood stage, nothing provides greater opportunities for publicity than the introduction of a client to the media – and the public – for the first time.  Oftentimes, the projects are permanent, such as the groundbreaking for a major new building that will literally become part of the City’s architectural fabric, and sometimes they’re more ephemeral, such as a one-time event that still leaves a lasting impression on its audience. In either case, a launch is a momentous occasion – so all opportunities should be mined to take advantage of this milestone.

The Silverman Group prides itself on having played an integral part in launching many new productions, institutions and buildings here; as often as possible, we like to start “on the ground floor” so as to be as fully informed – and ultimately as helpful – as possible.

Over the years, we’ve successfully trumpeted major new facilities including the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts (University of Chicago), Columbia College Chicago Media Production Center, Spertus Institute, dana hotel and spa, Old Town School of Folk Music, The Joffrey Tower and City Winery Chicago.

Our value in part derives from our role approaching all projects with the media’s interest in mind, so as to maximize opportunities for coverage, such as determining: when it is best to tour reporters and critics through a construction site; what time of day is most likely to attract news cameras; who is the best spokesperson for a particular reporter; and what image the client is aiming to project.  The Silverman Group brings to the table valuable lessons learned from past experience that can help ensure as positive and wide a publicity campaign as possible.  And as a broad-based arts & lifestyle firm, The Silverman Group has acquired myriad media contacts covering any number of “beats” (from the arts to architecture, from non-profit/education to national general interest), enabling us to take advantage of the variety of publicity angles that a major new building project engenders.

We’ve also had much success unveiling visual artworks and live performances to the Chicago and national media, including: major public art installations on State Street commissioned by Chicago Loop Alliance; premiering A Christmas Story: The Musical! at The Chicago Theatre, in advance of its Broadway opening; launching the first-ever Make Music Chicago series of free music programming throughout the City; along with scores of productions making their Chicago debut here and countless World Premiere repertory additions by longtime cultural organizations such as the Chicago Sinfonietta, Fulcrum Point New Music Project and Luna Negra Dance Theater.

Utilizing a broad range of media contacts and years of relevant experience in this market, The Silverman Group helps ensure that launches, introductions and openings make a big first impression!
